We support kidney patients in Herts & Beds to improve lives for them & their families
LAKPA is pleased to support kidney patients and their families in a number of ways. Firstly, if there is a personal issue related to the service you receive from your dialysis unit or from the Lister hospital, you should initially raise with the appropriate member of staff. You may then wish to raise it with your local LAKPA liaison person. This will be on a confidential basis, unless you agree it can be shared with others. Contact details of the local liaison persons are included in the Contact LAKPA section of this website.
Secondly, members of the LAKPA Executive Committee are available to discuss any issue with you. Please feel to contact any of us; our contact details are in the Contact LAKPA section of this website. We can raise policy matters with senior members of staff, on your behalf.
Support from National Charities
LAKPA is an active member of the National Kidney Federation (NKF). NKF is a federation of over 50 kidney patients associations nationally. It offers a number of services and campaigns nationally to improve the lives of kidney patients.
The main service is a HELPLINE service which offers support and advice of a wide range of issues which affect kidney patients. This is a free service to anyone by phone or e-mail.
The Helpline is open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and is staffed by people who understand the needs of kidney patients. It can be contacted by phone on 0800 169 09 36 (this is a free number) or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kidney Care UK
Another national kidney charity offering support to kidney patients is Kidney Care UK. A wide range of services are offered to kidney patients, including financial support and a free advocacy service.
